新加坡青年节昨天落下了序幕。新加坡海星中学的指挥台风惊人，以不同高超（不是高潮，因为高潮好像在做一些 coughs 的事情）的动作令我们叹为观止。

这六个月来的努力，在台上展现在学姐、观众和评审面前。南中华乐团昨天在台上的表现连我自己都吓倒了。最后第二次的会堂排练，戚老师走出了会堂，这是每一位南中华乐团的队员顿时清醒了，我们的华乐团，我们便应该投入百分之一百的精神。

我们进行了最后一次的会堂排练，大家的精神虽没到百分之一百但已经做好准备要登上新加坡大会堂的舞台！

我们到达了大会堂，有一间穿着与巴士车窗帘布同样颜色的学校对我们比出了"L"! 谁管他们! -.-

唯一的大事件便是扬琴反倒在地上，但不要紧，大家临危不乱调好就可以了。洪老师帮我们调音，粘笛膜，我们还轮流上厕所！

到我们进如调音室了，戚老师迅速地过完几个片段，所有的老师便以最快的速度调音。

我们刚好听到 Marsiling 与华侨的演奏！

14.45 #53 Nanyang Girls' High School. 一切一眨眼便过去了！我笑了，大家也笑了! 我们做到了！

经过一番你推我挤后，我们坐在近三个小时前我们等候入场的地方。五位评审给于了评语，然后烦人的司仪一番的感谢词和 “最后”终于！成绩公布了！

经过 10 个荣誉金，到了第五十个，我们围在了一起，手不断地发抖，"Number 53, Nanyang Girls' High School, GOLD WITH HONOURS" 全场欢呼，我哭了，没有眼泪，但我知道我哭了!

南中华乐团做到了，我们的音乐感动到人了。

当初，没通过试镜我还不以为然，但是当自己在那舞台时，我后悔当初自己这样想，也很感谢戚老师在给于我这个机会。我们这条路，走的比2009年轻松，戚老师没有一个一个来，少了泪水，多了欢乐。这个旅途真的走的很开心。我本已对华乐的热诚尽失，因为这趟旅程有回来了。虽然之前很不满练习的增多，但这种“厌烦”已逐渐成为了一种习惯。

我认为，不需要把热诚和投入明显地表现出来，老实说，我到了青年节的大概一个礼拜前才有了那一种冲动，那一种紧张，那一种投入。在这个旅途中，我们的奉献已变成理所当然的，所以不需要去很刻意地显示出来。在这又漫长又短的旅途，我们有着不少的回忆，在大族的欢笑，小组的打闹，如果持有这些回忆，我认为比六个月里只是正正经经的排练来的更好！

其次，这次大家都带着平常心登上舞台，音准，音色，感觉，整齐度，节奏，旋律都一一到位，就如一幅完美无暇的拼图。云锣独奏、埙独奏都令人赞叹。我们多个月来练的音准也终究没有辜负我们。而且，这次洪老师担保了我们的音准和笛膜，诗佳说的对，我们应该相信他。

在这里，非常感谢学姐和学妹的支持。最重要，谢谢戚老师的教导、鼓励和热诚和洪老师的教导及鼓励！

我们做到了，四年都死守着“荣誉金”的封号！

seemed so far and hard to reach 6 months ago. I have to admit that there really were many times when I thought we wouldn't be able to do it, but I hope I never showed it to any of you (maybe to kengfang)! The lack of confidence could probably be attributed to the significant decrease in the amount of practices lah so please think first before deciding to attack me with your mum's chopper.

making comparisons to SYF 2009 was futile and foolish, I wasn't in SYF 2009 but still the tendency to compare ourselves to the SYF team 2009 was always there, if not always bugging us seniors.. Tended to say that we had lesser practices than phyllis' batch and stuff.. But yeah we realised soon that having more pracs doesn't necessarily equate to higher standards.

Sorry for losing faith in us quite a few times.. yesterday when the announcer went like 'nanyang girls' high school...' -long pause-, idk what the hell the pause was for and until now I still don't know, I started crying already for fear that we couldn't get what we wanted. And when he finally decided to announce the results, those in our huddle cried (and this joan and kf ah pls cry more glamourously next time leh) and for once I really found that we all truly had the common passion for NYCO, nydizi and all its members, and that even if the announcer really announced that we got the other award with 3 words, this common desire to be the best we can ever be, to show mrs ee and all the other COs what we are truly made of, is more than enough for me to declare that I love all of you, nydizi and NYCO! and myself HAHA.

This SYF journey was really quite arduous cos I would say dizi SYF batch'11 is a batch comprising of so many elements like confidence and faith and trust and belief.. That was scary sometimes to hear of how you all were so confident that we could do it when sometimes we really didn't perform up to expectations. So for all the pep talks we've given you, this was the reason behind them, though in our hearts we already know how pro you all are :D

Thanks for believing in NYdizi, hong lao and yourself because without this simple action from you juniors, I don't know what I would have done.. hmm.. maybe I would have jumped off M401..

This is my batch's last year in NYCO, and I'm really touched and surprised by our standard, we might not be the best in SG, or the best in bt timah or whatever but we are the best in our hearts! and that's all that matters! it'd be good if we get into SYF showcase though! Thanks nydizi for providing us with all these wonderful memories that will never cease to exist, and that nydizi includes the sec 2s and 1s too! we never forgot about you all okay! In fact we talk about you guys so often during CCA :D

Don't laugh hor but during our zheng performance ytd I almost cried (AGAIN) cos I could really feel the music for once (?). I'm not guniang okay my tears are produced involuntarily! Shijia's xun solo for yaotian was scary and eerie too, and the note which we all played after her solo - hope it woke up the yellow 'fat' guy who was sleeping. neh neh ni poo poo BLEH price to pay for sleeping. -.- okay lah joking. But I really felt like we did one of our best yesterday, might not be the best but certainly not the worst! Mrs Ee was proud of us too so we should be proud of ourselves as well for being to keep up to our standard!!

Was really surprised how so many of us were so calm before and during the performance (can't say about after lah), like before that we were all sitting down and taking turns to go to the toilet but in my almost perfect memory (haha) nobody said they were nervous and nobody was desperately trying to do qigong to calm themselves down!!

The performance was really a great experience, regardless of whether we touched the audience or not, we still touched ourselves. sounds so freaking wrong.. HAHA 毛手毛脚 (btw honglao says he was touched by our performance!!) yay!

So congrats to all of us for getting a GOLD WITH HONOURS for the FOURTH CONSECUTIVE TIME!! PROUD OF ALL OF US!

and to the other COs, congrats for putting in your very best efforts in SYF'11, the mere award will never be able to accurately pinpoint the amount of hard work you put in, nor surpass the passion you have for your CO! every CO has a strength, and it's up to all of us to expound on it so the results will forever pale in comparison to the bond you share with your CO.

to our dear juniors, beatrix, kemerly, carmen, yingxuan and yuting, thank you all for being so so so nice and cute and encouraging!!! beatrix we love you for being there to help us take care of our stuff and for providing me with amusement haha!!!!!!!

and to all our seniors! thank you for making the effort to come down to watch us perform onstage, esp the ancient seniors like elise and ger etc, not saying you guys are old but your presence really made a difference!

and to honglao, he'll probably never read this but ahem we all love you!

Yo yo people decided to post something:D (i'm supposed to be doing HMP now)

It's 8 days to SYF counting today! And tmr would be officially A WEEK to SYF!! Haha I'm not here to stress everyone to lian cos I'm sure you all do that at home right right? If you're still not lianing at home at this stage I'm gonna whack you with my DIDAI (NOT DIZI) tmr horh!!!! (I still stressed everyone to lian anyway. Nvm~~~)

Hmmm. I just want to ask everyone a question - what do you play music for? (DON'T WORRY THIS IS NOT A PEP TALK)

Ok I should rephrase - why do you love music?

Music... music is basically the language of the heart. It's something that will betray your state your mind without fail and it's impossible to lie with it. When you're playing people can tell if you're bored, tired, energetic, happy, contented... No matter how good you are at lying (not saying that anyone here is a habitual liar), you cannot, cannot lie with what you're playing.

Makes sense? What I'm trying to say here is - feel the music that you play! I know it's easier for zheng, but try your best to do the same for yaotian too! Yaotian is actually a very beautiful piece. What kind of feelings do you get when you play manban? A sense of anticipation? What about kuaiban? Do you feel the beat, the rhythm pulsing inside you when you play? Most of all, do you feel a passion, a bond that penetrates the entire CO when we play together? If you did that, then your performance is successful (:

Ok yinzhun and all the other stuff aside, the main objective of any performance is the FEELING you get when you play. This is one of the reasons I'm addicted to playing in the CO haha. You feel the bond whenever you play, and you will never, ever feel lonely when you're playing with everyone else. Cos well, we're all together right?:D

Lets strive for this feeling every dazu, every audi prac, and of course on stage. If one person starts feeling the music, another person would be "infected" and it will spread!!:D

One tip for feeling the music - TAIFENG! When you try your best to move, the feeling just comes to you naturally and it's the same the other way round! When you feel the music, "release your body from its bonds" and MOOOOOOVE to your heart's content! Like it's just a higher level version of swaying to a pop song like err Lucifer?

My friend from band just shared with me today about her experiences this SYF. She said that as long as you felt the music on stage, it's not the award that matters. As long as you experienced the togetherness on stage, there's no need to care about whatever award we got. We would have won anyway.

I'm not saying that we can't get GWH. I'm saying, that what really matters that you enjoyed the experience on stage, and that this experience will forever be a memorable one for you, and that your heart thumped with the music on stage.

So, lets open up our hearts to the music and MOOOVE!!:D

Jiayou with lianing!! Yep as Fennie said in the last post, we cannot get complacent! There's still a lot of stuff to improve on!!! BUT WE CAN DO IT.

hey guys, because I'm so free now after school I decided to post something.. and make the blog look not so cheena hahaa. soo as it is we have like 8 days left to SYF as of today? hope everyone's practising yinzhun at home!! (though my yinzhun sucks) cos we have to reserve lunch pracs and aft-sch pracs for coordination and feeling and taifeng! I think we're almost slipping into the complacent mode already.. because well, zheng was kinda easy for us to get the basics so maybe we all started to relax after awhile? but what we have to do now is to delve into the deeper significance and magnificence of zheng! and also yaotian! LET'S ALL TRY TOGETHERRRRRRRRR TOGETHERRRRR TOGETHERRRRRR!!! because we don't want to leave without regrets, so we have to do our best.. remember the promise we all made that time to shijia that we will practise on every sat and sun on our own at home? idk how many people actually really did.. I know I didn't prac on one of the fateful sundays.. :X but at least I stayed back today to prac a bit! :D I want to thank those who really make an effort to turn up for practices since pracs are ever so important. (which is everyone lah we're all quite proactive..?? right right??) but I think our pracs are sometimes or rather, often, quite unproductive because sometimes we crap too much.. not the literal meaning, but yeah our attention gets diverted sometimes. I know it's normal of girls and I talk a lot too but WEF today, please concentrate during practices!! LET'S ALL TRY TOGETHERRRRR TOGETHERRRR TOGETHERRRRRRRR~ then we can end earlier and eat more beijing dumplings. -cues proclamation of '我是个北京人!!!!'- from shijia :) Oh and ytd's dazu.. you know like almost 1hr was spent on us.. :( i need to lian the freaking xiaodi.. but take note of kuaiban and guangban, mainly the second and third page of yaotian! when you're rotting on the bus/car/mrt/at home/in the coffin(?), and you have absolutely nothing to do, just think of yaotian and zheng and how you would play each bar in the pieces.. 远古神话传说中的音乐（太古至尧舜时代）

音乐是话语的延伸，古代音乐文献《乐记》对于古代歌唱起源的描述为：“情动与中，故形与声”；“故歌之为言也，长言之也”。也就是说，感情在内心中激动起来，也就表现为声音；用歌唱代替语言，实际上就是说话声音的延伸扩展。

传说禹因治水而巡视南方，不能与恋人塗(tu2)山氏女相会，塗山氏女为了抒发急切期待禹的感情，便深情地吟唱了一首恋歌：“候人兮猗(yi1)！”意思就是“等候你啊！”。这是至今所知最早、最短的四言情歌。这印证了《乐记》的记载。

关于鼍(tuo2)鼓来源的另一种说法：

夔(kui2)乃是远古神话中的雷神以及音乐之神，也是上古黄帝时期掌管音乐的乐官。夔是远古鳄鱼之类爬行动物的化身，《山海经》记载夔为“出入水则必风雨，其光如日月，其声如雷”，意思就是夔出水或入水时，引起风雨大作，身体发光朗似日月，声音如雷电。夔经常用尾巴击打腹部，产生音乐，因此被先民奉为音乐之神。黄帝得到夔后，用它的皮制成鼓，声传五百里，因此天下太平。

鼓类打击乐乃是中国远古人民最早的乐器之一。起先，人们拍打自己的身体，从此诱发了制造鼓类打击乐器的原理。远古传说中的其他乐器还有土鼓、磬、铃、籥(yue4) （一种古代的管乐器，其状如笛）、埙、管、篪(chi2)（古代一种像笛子一样的乐器，有八孔，竹制）、簧（笙、竽等簧片乐器的总称）、琴（即古琴）、瑟等。

远古乐舞

乐舞，就是人们跟着音乐载歌载舞，是个独立的艺术形式，通常用于各种祭祀，节日等等。

《吕氏春秋：仲夏纪第五·古乐》中记载：“昔葛天氏之乐，三人操牛尾，投足以歌八阕(que4)：一曰载民，二曰玄鸟，三曰遂草木，四曰奋五谷，五曰敬天长，六曰达帝功，七曰依地德，八曰总万物之极”

乐舞《葛天氏之乐》，由三个人手执牛的尾巴，脚踏着音乐的节奏，唱出八段：载民、玄鸟、遂草木、奋五谷、敬天长、达帝功、依地德、总万物之极。乐舞不只有这一种，也有其他的，如《咸池》、《夏籥》等。

关于尧所作的音乐：

《吕氏春秋：仲夏纪第五·古乐》记载：“帝尧立，乃命质为乐。质乃效山林溪谷之音以歌，乃以麋(mi2)鞈(音ge2，字典中查无此字）置缶(fou3)而鼓之，乃拊(fu3)石击石，以象上帝玉磬之音，以致舞百兽”

译：尧成为了皇帝，命令质（人名）奏乐。质仿效山林溪谷大自然的声音歌唱，麋鞈（应该是个人）摆出缶（古代的一种食器，也可以用来做乐器）而敲打，拍石击石，像上天玉磬（玉做的磬，也意喻声音非常好听的磬）的声音，导致百兽起舞。

关于舜的音乐：

《吕氏春秋：仲夏纪第五·古乐》记载：“舜立，仰延，乃拌瞽(gu3)叟(sou3)之所为瑟，益之八弦，以为二十三弦之瑟。帝舜乃令质修《九招》、《六列》、《六英》，以明帝德”

译：舜当了皇帝，用了瞽叟（舜的父亲）造的瑟，添上了八条弦，做成了二十三弦的瑟。舜命令质（人名，可能是当时的乐官）写了《九招》、《六列》、《六英》三首乐舞，以赞颂舜的功德。

注：《九招》、《六列》、《六英》可能跟舜的所作所为直接有关

古代音律：

音律，就是类似C调、D调之类的一种固定的音阶模式。中国古代音乐用的是十二音律，称《十二律》：黄钟、太吕、太篪、夹钟、姑冼、仲吕、蕤(rui2)宾、林钟、夷则、南吕、无射、应钟。这十二律其实就是把一个八度平分为十二个音，就如钢琴上一样。

虽然古代音乐总共有十二个音，但一次只会用五个或者是七个音来组成曲子。运用五个音的叫“五音调”，运用七个音的叫“七音调”。五音调中的音称为：宫，商，角，征，羽。七音调中则加了两个音：宫，商，角，变征，征，羽，变宫。宫与商之间永远相差一个全音(major 2nd, e.g. C to D, 1 to 2 on C diao)，角与征之间永远相距一个小三度(minor 3rd. e.g. 2 to 4 on C diao, D to F)。

此法被后世所用，加以扩展，增至六十律（即五个八度），后来更增为三百六十律。

古谣《击壤歌》全文：

日出而作日入而息凿井而饮耕田而食尧何等力（出自论语）/帝何力于我哉（出自《帝王世纪》）？

论语曰：“大哉！尧之为君也。荡荡乎民无能名焉。传曰：有年五十击壤于路者，观者曰：大哉尧德乎！击壤者曰：吾日出而作，日入而息，凿井而饮，耕田而食，尧何等力！”

译：伟大啊！尧当年为君。他的恩德多么宽广，老百姓无法用言语称颂他。传说有一年，有五十个人在路边击壤*，在路旁观看的人说：尧的恩德非常伟大！那五十人回答：我们日出时工作，日落时休息，打井得到食水，耕田得到粮食，我们过我们的，不关尧的事！

Chionging for SYF starts NOW!!

We might have gotten our pieces later than others, (in fact just a couple of days ago) but that doesn't mean we'll do worse than others. We'll do even better.

Turn the passion and tension accumulated in our hearts (if existent -.-) into motivation and inspiration to do better, greater and stronger.

We won't cry/die/flip/flop in this definitely arduous journey for we have the company of 90 other people; 'individually we are a drop, but together we are an ocean!!!' <- i think this message still sits in m401 peacefully. when you're feeling poetic please look up at the board and the message will stare nicely back down at you.

Fun and laughter, pain and agony we'll go through, but it's a fact that we'll stand more united at the end of the road!

One more year to the end of my journey in beloved NYCO, but we'll all strive to make my batch's last memories here deeply etched in our hearts forever (not that they won't already).

Distractions aplenty, challenges many, but our love for NYCO will serve to dissipate whatever might try to slap us in the face and we'll slap them back. I'm a pro slapper.

SYF auditions sound like an 'ear sore' but what's life without challenges?? If life were a bed of roses we'd all die on our beds. wth am I saying. I mean if life were a bed of roses it'd wouldn't be called life. What's the point of heaven then? Omg I make sense.

I hope all of us (including me) will temporarily kick this idea of yourself not being able to get into SYF and boohoo the world's gonna end that sort of thing out of your feeble and weak minds as they already are. OKAY LAH THE WORLD'S REALLY GONNA END WHAT. THINK SO MUCH FOR WHAT. And just keep thinking of the 3 sacred letters GWH~ can you see the halo?? i can see your halo halo haloooo!

Actually it won't matter if we don't get GWH, but it will matter if we succumb to the pressure and fall short of getting it when we CAN. So from now on, we'll be interlocking our hearts and charging forth as one section, one dizi, one NYDIZI. We can do it! I SAY WE CAN MEANS WE CAN WHO SAY CANNOT? SLAP YOURSELF NOW

Whoever disagrees that today is a bad day is wanted for 5 billion rupiah. SO MUCH HOMEWORK! YAY! I think that I have gone mad. I shudder to think of that enormous pile. But, on the up side of this week, first dazu was okay! But Mrs Ee will soon be breathing fire... 2 dazu to finish the dumb ar xi hopping to the moon. When I was playing the song, I was thinking: "China! Your government in the past was like, so weird? This loony was trying to jump to the moon! So where was Woodbridge? Where are social services???" Soooo... everyone must practice, especially Fennie! And all the people who are playing the loud loud dizi! But you all are all so pro already, seems like me and kem have to really work hard.
I feel like spamming! So, I will list down all my homework in order of the easiest ones.

Two math papers which are actually Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined. Which means 4 PAPERS! Our Math teacher has a nasty sense of humour.
An LA comprehension about a mad bull and a crackpot doctor who was stupid enough to poke the bull with a needle.
A Science Paper for EOY revision, equal to 3 blocktests in one plus a few pages worth of MCQ.
A History Paper. Just one page, but I shall not be deceived. It is in small print. Maybe our History teacher's husband is an optician.

1) THERE IS CCA THIS THURSDAY! Sorry for the sms confusion >< I'm not coming cos of HMP SIA perf ):

2) Sept hols hol prac: Tues and Thurs. Tues morning is sec 4 farewell, afternoon is xiaozu, Thurs morning is dazu, afternoon is xiaozu.

3) Holiday window for trips during Dec hols: 1st 2 weeks of December as Mrs Ee is going away. Please TRY NOT TRY NOT TRY NOT to put holidays on last 2 weeks of December as we are starting to prac SYF then! We really really need a full attendance... or else Mrs Ee can't lian that well cos of sound balance ):

4) Fundraising sales on T4W1! Cos we have erm losses due to unexpected expenditure for concert, so we have to raise funds to cover up! We'll (tentatively) be selling bubbletea on Mon, Tues, Wed recesses in T4W1. Anyone interested to help pls contact me either by email or through sms latest by tmr! I'm on the Wednesday session. We are short of hands, so pls try to help!

5) Huibao! People, please decide whether you guys want ensemble or solo by this xiaozu! You guys can tell laoshi yourself(: Sec 3s are strongly encouraged to solo (I have to solo ): new regulation that all sls have to solo ): sorry batchmates!) And if you want ensemble, you have to get one with different parts. Like with solo passages for each part! So xiao niao and Canon in D is out, can try something like jiang nan hao if it doesn't kill you. Pls tell me your arrangements by next week thurs! You guys HAVE to start prac-ing by sept hols in order to make it in time for huibao which is during CO camp. Hong laoshi may be coming to watch. This year's huibao is v.v.v.v.v.v. important! May influence decision for next year...(:

I feel that the concert was GREAT!!!
Its the first time i ever feel bonded in dizi! And CO!
I shall do away with all the thanking, cuz KF have alr done so!
I feel that it's okay that we have made mistakes, it's the experience, the bonded-ness, that is most important! I am sure all of us have enjoyed the concert!

Sec fours we will DEFINITELY miss you guys! I love the way you guys throw corn and shoes and talk about the fat you guys have in your bodies! And grass and flowers too! You guys are such a bonded batch and I'm not just envious, I'm jealous! Even the sec 3s are better! But can't be helped, I'm supposed to be lonely I guess (: Then I could bond with the seniors and juniors more! But its like I'm disturbing them... intruding into their batch... which is bad ):

NYCO WAS MARVELLOUS!

丝竹情韵 was awesome!

Since I wrote an encouragement post, I guess I must write a "discourage" post? HAHA.

Yesterday really went by very fast. Nervous to enjoyment. It's the process for a concert right? I guess everyone had a lot of fun yesterday and reviews for the concert were quite good.

Yesterday had screw-ups (mostly by me, like during hml the dimo suddenly went song, jinshang the part lah) SORRY okay but I think we couldn't have done it without the following people:

Gratitudes go to:

Honglaoshi for being there with us throughout the whole concert though he suddenly disappear but he was very nervous for us too cos he told me and shijia "很久没有紧张的感觉了!" He tried his best to fix all our dizi and my xindi was especially nice to blow during hml (kindly refer to shijia)

Linlaoshi for being there to encourage us always and helping us with yue er gao and always telling us to relax and we're almost there and we can do it.

The biggest thank you goes to mrs ee for being there for all of us throughout the whole concert journey, she gave us encouraging smiles on stage and she guided us through the nervous process. She was very nice to not scold us too much because she believed in us! Just like how all the instructors believed in us.

Thank you to our sec one juniors for supporting and our cute sec one juniors for backstage!

Thanks to all seniors who came back to watch us for chocolates and hugs!

Lastly I would love to thank the whole section for being there and making us move forward together and giving everyone our best performances!

The list will go on for everyone that was there yesterday for being with us to witness our effort. What I took back was the gratitude in my heart and it is such a pity that it all ended which mark the end point of the sec fours' co journey.

You all have been with us for three years (referring to sec threes) two and one year respectively for sec twos and ones and for grace two years. We are all very sad that you all are leaving because each of you have your own good points that we will miss! You all tried very had to put the section together and guided us through the whole concert journey. We will miss the sec fours because all of you showed us what is true bonding even though grace came later but you all still clicked very well.

We will miss the quarrels between all of you and how Victoria loves to bully her batchmates and how poor liting and yumin always 难逃魔爪! Okay lah just kidding, I am envious of the bondS between you all.

Please do come back more often okay? Do have a good life when you embark on your journey to HCJC and good luck in your future endeavours.

We will work hard for SYF'11 so as not to disappoint you all!

Do stay close and keep in contact with all of us alright?

We all did well during the concert and I hope everyone gets a good rest and keep all the memories okay?

I just wanna say good job everyone for the incredible concert like 27 hours ago :D though I can't vouch that it was a good concert or not I'm sure that we all had much fun freaking out backstage and learning about Buddhism with zen (:

Okay here goes, we are doing a around four days countdown to concert and good luck to everyone here.

Dizi has walked a long journey down more than 6 months and we did put in a lot of effort and everyone is doing the last bit of what they could to polish up their music. It's our last shot and tomorrow will be our first not so official rehearsal at SCH and perhaps when you see this post, we are already back from the rehearsal. Even if we're not good, we might demoralised and things like that, but my word of advice is that, what we can do now is to go up to stage with hope and come down with pride.

It's already nothing we can do till that so we should just put in our very best, what's done is done so we should just treasure the time now to try to fix in the bits and pieces of the music and you will never know what will happen when we were on stage.

Going up on stage includes a lot of factors that will screw you up:

-nervousness x 100?
-freaking out looking at more than 500 pairs of eyes staring at you though not really cos you are not denise or lixian so you're not even prominent BUT HEY WE ARE BEING ELEVATED SO YEAH.
-dimo bo? o.o (Exclaim and scream!)
-maybe your dizi will split into two or something! AHHHHHH that probably wont, if it happens just grab your neighbour's dizi k?
-perhaps it's just one note or two going weird and coocoo?!

WHATEVER IT IS, just take it easy how sure can you be that other people wont make the same mistake as you, maybe to you it's bad but perhaps it's marvellous to the audience.

Optimism will be the best factor to push your morale up on stage but just don't go overboard. I know through this whole journey there are different situations that came out, but come one, after this we will be sending our seniors off to HCJC and be with all the *ahem* all rounded handsome *ahem* HCI boys. We will miss them don't we?

Good memories should be treasured while bad memories should be forgotten, we would love to leave the seniors good memories and hope they will come back to see us more often!

I do feel scared and nervous like everyone else who will will not might read this post as in come on, it's my section your section our section my co your co our co yeah? No matter how much we have been through it will be the 2-3 hours we get to be on stage and looking at the black shadows at the audience area and SPOTTING YOUR MUM OR YOUR BEST FRIEND WAVING AT YOU, so those are the people who are here to give you the support to witness your effort your achievement and of course US!!!!

Like what Mrs Ee told me making mistakes is a part and parcel of life, make mistakes at the right time and learn from it. Sometimes mistakes do not mean that your life will terminate here, sometimes it's a good practice for all of us.

so I hope everyone will give their very best and sleep sufficiently on that day go up on stage and come down with SMILES.

hey guys, for the past few cca sessions our performance has been really really bad.. is there anyone who disagrees? i don't think so right?

i think the problem lies in our dedication to nydizi, if you aren't dedicated enough you wouldn't be bothered to bring your dizi home to lian or even lian over the weekends.. at least lian on your own for 1 or 2 hours over the week? we used to lian everyday, morning pracs and lunch pracs and morning pracs and lunch pracs, but now it seems like many of us don't even bother to attend pracs that are only 1 hr or 30 min long.. if you are really busy then it's okay, but if your reason is 'i dont bother or i have homework to do' or something... do you think you need to reflect on yourself? cca may not be as impt as homework but the concert is in 50+ days time... dazus are so horrendous like other sections are focusing on dynamics and we're still at the fundamental stage of getting our notes out?

there's no point in complaining that you can't play if you don't care! at least if you practise a little, it shows that you're concerned and worried but i'm quite sure that some people don't bother about the no. of days left as indicated on m401 whiteboard.. 50 +14 days 'quite a long time leh'. yeah it's quite long but will you make use of that 50+14 days to lian? or log on to facebook everyday?

BTs are over, i guess everyone (seniors+juniors) should learn to prioritise. concert or BT2? everyone should reflect as well, for those who talk too much during cca till laoshi has to shut us up, and for those who prac a lot but still can't really make it.. maybe it's your practising techniques? and i think everyone has some fault for our performance recently, including me (ha don't try guessing who i am, you won't know).

if you get home early almost everyday, count yourself lucky cos there are dizions who are only free on 1 or 2 weekdays. make use of that time to prac, even if it's just 5 min you can lian your changyin or shuangtu. or you can listen to more CO recordings to get the gan jue of the music. don't really expect everyone to get the feeling cos i guess not all of us are that pro, but when i think of how the syf team did last year as compared to how we're doing this year.. i just can't say anything.. if we can be like the syf team last year, dui4 note to note, lianing everyday, will we still get chided every dazu?

some forms of practices like playing changyin and dui-ing note to note may be stupid and foolish to you but that's part of the dizi tradition and if you don't do it, it shows a lot about your attitude.. some of us hate dizi hate cca hate ___Y __G, but if you don't like dizi, or even your own l__ s__, how can you expect to ace in dizi? just like forcing yourself to like to bake when you dont even like confectionary or your teacher, no matter what you'll never grasp the correct method.

so just take the time to reflect... being a senior doesn't really give you priority not to lian, set good examples for the juniors! and juniors i think they're working quite hard, but they can still work harder. doesn't mean that you're 'very pro' already so 'you don't need to lian also won't die'. even the pro-est person has to maintain his standard.

so i admit that i'm not lianing enough, (ps i found out that 3 hrs plus a week on your own is seriously not enough) SO TAKE ACTION! don't sit there and complain that you dont have time to prac, it's not up to you to decide whether you have time or not, it's a matter of making time for yourself. if you're really that busy, no one will mind if you lian alone during breaks. or after school too.

TAKE ACTION AND REFLECT OKAY, if we continue like this we'll dui bu qi our pro seniors. jiayou everyone :)

edit: i remembered something.. please pay attention during dazu! a little talking is fine but don't get too overboard! sometimes we talk too much and we dont come in when we have to, it really 'tarnishes our reputation'! and if you're free, perhaps you could listen to the recordings on this blog and be amazed at how far we have to go to be like them.. sorry for the dark post, i'm creating tension and irony in the audience :)

I'm blogging again 3 min after the previous post in an attempt to keep the blog alive ._. This is in response to Kengfang's 内衣内裤 and 外衣外裤 plan for CNY rehearsal! For those of you who immediately ran out of m401 after dazu ended and didn't catch the lecture by KF! It's a good plan! (I added some stuff in!)

For CNY we'll be sitting in 2 rows:

LEFT Sally Kengfang Shi Jia Yu Min Vicky RIGHT
Fennie Grace Liting Yi Xin

nei yi nei ku: red (haha get the literal meaning)
wai yi wai ku 1: blue
wai yi wai ku 2: light blue

So after the piece right everyone pass dizis, scores, tuners, dimos, ahjiaos, sprayers, FOOD?! etc. to NYNKs in your row and they will leave the scene hastily via right side of stage.

WYWK 1s stack the chairs for their row silently and carry the chairs offstage through left. WYWK 2s get the score stands for their row and leave through right.

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING FOR DIZI IS CLEARED! don't leave tuners or anything behind!

note: once you leave the stage, try not to go back on stage (like ahem someone) because you'll be going against the flow and you may very well be the only one left on stage.

So dizions will be the most efficient section once again! :D

HI after reading teddy bear's post I think we should really post more! :D Our blog is one of the only 2 alive NYCO section blogs so we should be proud of it and strive to keep it EVEN MORE ALIVE! When other NYCO people visit this blog they'll be like 'Wow dizi has nothing better to do' but we don't care! :D

erm... this is a crap post i suppose :D
I was bored the whole night and then after idling for a v. long time i decided to read the dizi blog, starting from the day u created it o.o
seriously.
But of course i did not read EVERYTHING heh .. looked through it.

AND I REALISED THAT WE GETTNG LESS AND LESS BONDED. That year 2008 has MANY MANY POSTS. Then "渐弱" liao... the more i see recent posts i was like "WHAT IS THIS?!" from like more than 10 posts until now, like 2 posts per month? o.o
eh dizi must become more bonded :D

when im sec 1 that time i dun really LOVE dizi and CO until like end of last year.
I just realised right, that only sec 3s and sec 4s'09 post a lot, now with sec 4s gone like left sec 3s.
Sec 2s = dead la super NOT enthu (eh i cursing myself issit?)
Sally not that kind of enthu person and since im her batchmate i will follo in her footsteps :D

1。笛子的调比标准音偏高时怎么办？整个笛子的发音比标准音稍高时，可将吹的右方（靠膜孔一方）用黄蜡（黄蜡内可加少许松香）封闭少许（封闭越多音越低），同时，再将吹孔的左方稍稍挖去一点（因封闭后吹孔缩小，而且不圆，不好吹奏）。假如整个笛子的音稍低于标准调子时，就可以将吹孔的左方封闭少许，将右方稍挖去一点（挖的越多音越高）。如果用这种方法还不能达到笛音的升高或降低的要求，那么，就可以将吹孔周围竹子的表皮挖掉两公分左右的方法。然后另一块同样大小的竹片（塑料片）用胶粘上去，待胶合牢固之后，再根据音高的需要，另开一个吹孔即可。修理吹孔的这几种方法同样也适用其它各音孔上。

2。八度音不准可用以下两种方法修理：第一，移动笛塞（吹孔左边的塞子，在笛子的筒内）。如果是低音高，高音低，可将笛塞向吹孔移近；如果是低音低，高音高，可将笛塞移远一点。如这样仍不能解决问题，还可采用第二种办法——填挖笛筒。假如低音低，高音高，可在笛筒内灌些黄蜡，或者用胶再胶上一个竹条子（竹条子的粗细要依音高的需要而定，竹条越粗，高音就越低，低音就越高。如果高音低，低音高，可将笛筒的内径镟大一些（筒子的内径越大高音越高，低音越低）。在镟筒或填筒时，要注意以下几点：（1）要一面修，一面校对，以免搞了半天还是不准，甚至搞坏了笛子；（2）工作要细致。如灌黄蜡时，要求蜡的厚度和宽度一致，而且平滑；填入的竹条子，要求竹条面上没有棱角，成为流水线。

3。高音和泛音不好发音，一般是由于下列原因造成：（1）笛筒内竹节，需要削平；（2）吹孔挖得不适当。假如吹孔左边过于向里斜，就回不合要求，应该修直一点；（3）音孔后边的竹管（调音孔那一节）太长，或调音孔挖得不当，这时可将调音孔挖大一些，或者从调音孔处开始，锯掉竹管。
4。筒音不准怎么办？如果筒音稍低，可将后出音孔（又称穿绳孔）挖大（向前挖），或者在前面再挖一个孔（孔的大小依音高而定）。如果筒音偏高，可塞住一个后出音孔，或者把两孔全塞住，然后在原孔稍后一点的地方另开后出音孔。

笛膜一般是苇膜，筒状，把笛膜用刀片裁开，用小刀分割成一段一段的 (that's what me and Fennie do)。

粘笛膜用阿胶、白芨，大蒜 (WHAT!) 也可。

如用阿胶粘，首先把膜孔周围涂上清水，然后均匀的图上阿胶。

把裁开的笛膜用嘴吹一吹，抻出细细的小褶来 (NEW WAY!)，然后用左手大拇指摁住笛膜的一边，右手调整笛膜的松紧，调整好了用右手大拇指摁住三两秒钟即可。

“音色过于沉闷”可能你用的笛膜太厚了，好的笛膜发白、透亮比较薄，但是不能太薄，老的笛膜有些发黄。

一般刚粘的笛膜，如果笛膜比较好，又松紧合适，音色就比较好听，笛声也不闷，放一段时间再用时，笛膜就会松下来，教你个方法，用手指按住六个孔，用嘴对准吹孔吹进热气，让笛膜醒一醒 (cool!)，然后再吹一般膜的松紧就比较合适了。

用过的笛膜是很容易变老的，变老之后声音就会变得发闷，不好听了。

笛膜变老是由于受空气湿度的影响。最好做一个笛胆，吹完笛子后把笛子里面的水汽揩干，同时也起到了保护笛子的作用。另外，笛膜发紧时，对这膜孔吹一下气，音色就比较清脆了。

詹永明笛子演奏家詹永明教授2004年从新加坡回国，受聘上海音乐学院民乐系，应本报邀请，詹永明教授就有关笛子的音色、气息等教学与演奏技术方面的知识与问题，结合自己教学与演奏实践中的一些体会做系统地讲解。
一，如何能使笛子音色松弛、明亮、具有穿透力？
答：笛子演奏最基本的训练分为“气、指、舌”三大类，首先气息训练的方法正确与否是笛子音色达到“通、透、松”的关键。“巍巍工程摩天大厦”，气息是笛子演奏技巧的基石，这个基石打得如何关系到大厦的高度与坚固。因此，科学系统的气息训练方法是教学演奏中最重要的一课。我们必须要把气息的训练放在笛子教学的首要位置，这是必修课程，每天必须严格要求练习。近年来，我在教学上提出了“呼吸并重”的训练方法，在实践中取得良好的效果，使学生们真正做到了“口呼鼻吸”、“气沉丹田”、“丹田提气”的腹式自然呼吸法，从而在音色上达到“通、透、松”的完美性。
二，科学的气息训练方法是怎样的？
答：气息训练方法分两大类：
（一）平稳长音练习，它的概念就是与弦乐器右手的长弓练习相似。训练方法与要求有以下几点：
1.“呼吸并重”，呼吸方法做到口呼鼻吸的腹式自然呼吸法。
2.长音练习，用C调曲笛筒音作5；从低音5到高音6再到低音5；每个音要求6到8拍；速度每拍=60；做到平稳、结实、响亮、纯净（风门无杂声）；每天2-3遍。
3.解决好长音训练过程中，音域的高低变化与气流速度的快慢、口劲的大小与风门大小之间的关系。
（二）气震长音练习，它的概念就是弦乐器左手的揉弦与弹乐器左手的“吟”弦相似。气震音是我们笛子演奏表达歌唱性的重要手段之一，它对于乐音的美化与旋律的装饰起到关键性的作用。训练方法与要求有以下几点：
1.吹奏出水纹般的气震音波；
初学者要求吹奏五次音波，幅度越大越好。中低音区要求做到自然、松弛；有如发出人声 “哈、哈、哈……”之感。
2.在以上训练的基础上；分为三种不同速度与节奏的音波练习：
A.速度每拍=60；把一拍划分为四个音波；有控制、节奏的训练；从低音5到高音6再到低音5；每个音吹奏两拍半（即音波为9次）。
B.速度每拍=72；把一拍划分为四个音波；有控制、节奏的训练；从低音5到高音6再到低音5；每个音吹奏三拍半（即音波为13次）。
C.速度每拍=96；把一拍划分为四个音波；有控制、节奏的训练；从低音5到高音6再到低音5；每个音吹奏4拍半（即音波为17次）。
以上三种不同音波的次数与不同速度的节奏训练，能使气震音由慢到快的正确运用。
3.呼吸要求；口呼鼻吸、气沉丹田（腹式）。
4.气震音波均匀、自然；有控制、节奏的训练，达到气震音波大小自如的效果。
